KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police have taken a suspect into custody Wednesday afternoon after a chase in a Kansas City neighborhood.

The chase began about 12:30 p.m. and remained in the area of Northeast Russell and Chaumiere roads.

Officials said at some point during the chase a Clay County sheriff's cruiser was struck by the suspect's silver truck. The deputy suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The deputy was not involved in the chase.

"Deputy medically cleared- released to recover comfortably at home. Charges pending as incident under investigation. Thanks for well wishes!," the sheriff's department tweeted.

The pick-up truck driver sped off and then eventually stopped south of the crash site at Northeast 34th Terrace and North Bales Avenue where the suspect jumped out and led officers on a short foot chase. He was eventually caught about 1:30 p.m. just west of Chouteau Trafficway.

There's no word at this time what the suspect is wanted by police for.
