CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - According to Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes, the body of 19-year-old Colton Oakes, of Hampton, was removed from a pond on Coleman Road in Hampton Wednesday morning.

Mathes said deputies tried to arrest Oakes Tuesday at a home on Vaughn Road, but he ran away. Police continued to search for him before finding his body Wednesday morning.

Mathes told News Channel 11 a preliminary autopsy report shows there were no signs of foul play. He says it appears that the teenager dove into the pond that was muddy and could not get out.  He said the victim’s body will be sent for an autopsy.

No other information has been released at this time.
