KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A 26-year-old Kansas City man died after officers shot him in a standoff at a home, police say.

Authorities identified the man as Isaac Sims.

Kansas City police were called about 11:40 a.m. Sunday to a home in the 2300 block of Lawndale Avenue to investigate reports that Sims was shooting a handgun and rifle at his father and a neighbor. They were not injured.

When officers arrived, several gunshots were heard coming from inside the home.

An Operation 100 was called about 12:15 p.m., which summoned negotiators and additional police resources to the scene.

Sims was shot by officers about 4:15 p.m. after he pointed a rifle at them as he exited the back door. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is normal procedure in all officer-involved shootings.
