Ohio drivers urged to "move over" this holiday weekend

Posted: Updated:

There is an increased presence of law enforcement on the roads this Memorial Day weekend and they are asking drivers to #moveover.

Law enforcement and other emergency responders can be found on Facebook and Twitter lately holding up a piece of paper with the hashtag "move over" on it.

It's all in an effort to keep the people who keep us safe on the roads, safe.

A new state law requires motorists to slow down or shift lanes if possible, when passing vehicles with flashing lights along the side of the road.

Drivers have been required to change lanes and ease up when nearing emergency vehicles, but the law was recently expanded to include construction and other roadside vehicles with flashing lights.
