A 44-year-old Norwood man has been arrested after federal authorities allege he possessed child pornography on his computer.

Christopher Crawford, who earlier resided in East Price Hill during the investigation, told authorities he used an instant messaging application to receive and share child pornography, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court.

The complaint also said Crawford used a peer-to-peer file sharing program to receive child pornography. Crawford said he obtained and viewed videos he received through the Internet of children engaged in sexual acts with animals and pornographic videos of babies as young as a year old being physically beaten.

Crawford said he had sex with a 14-year-old in approximately 2000.

Investigators did a preliminary scan of Crawford's laptop computer and found more than 220 files (the majority being video files) containing file names and thumbnail views indicative of child pornography.

Investigators viewed approximately six of the video files that contained children as young as 4 to 6 years old engaging in sexual acts.

Crawford appeared before a federal magistrate on Wednesday who ordered him jailed without bond pending a detention hearing Friday. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
