KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Bicycle riders gathered in the East Bottoms on Sunday for the Tour de Bier, promoting bicycle advocacy in Kansas City while having a good time.

About 1,000 people were in attendance for one of the city's largest festivals. The event encouraged people to bike and walk whenever they can.

Organizers also used the event to persuade the city to invest more in cyclists and pedestrians by putting down more bike lanes, signs and crosswalks.

Participants spent the morning riding to some of the city's oldest breweries and then kicking back with a nice cold one at the end of the ride.
