Former NCAA player killed in Regency Lake apartments double shooting

Police are investigating a double shooting at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Meadowdale Boulevard.

Police responded to the Regency Lake apartments around 12:43 a.m. Thursday and found two men shot.

David Copeland was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Copeland was a former Chesterfield Community High School student who went on to play for the Grambling State Tigers.

Right now, police are looking for two suspects, both men in their early 20s. One is tall and thin, and was wearing a white shirt and jeans. The other is about 5'4" and was wearing a dark shirt and jeans.
