KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A standoff between police and a man has ended on the city's east side, and police have identified the man involved.

Police say Maurice Bell, 35, of Kansas City, MO, also has Jackson County felony warrants for aggravated assault and burglary.

Kansas City police were called just before 10 a.m. Wednesday to a duplex in the 5500 block of The Paseo.

Officers were doing a warrant sweep to arrest a man when he barricaded himself inside the home.

Bell was inside with his girlfriend and two children. It was her family who called police.

"We talked to her a couple of times, and we couldn't tell if he was listening on or telling her what to say. But it came across as someone was telling her what to say, and family members called and said she's definitely not in there by herself. So that was when we called the Operation 100," said Officer Darin Snapp, a department spokesman.

The situation caused several streets around the area to close, but they have since reopened.

Bell is now in custody.
