Rapper Lil Boosie: 'Rest in peace Marty'

Posted: Updated:

A popular rapper took a moment during his concert in downtown Richmond to honor 8-year-old  Marty Cobb. Lil Boosie observed a moment of silence for the young hero.

"He is one of the biggest celebrities to come to the city in a long time," said radio personality TT Torrez. "Especially in the hip hop genre."

Thousands packed the Richmond Coliseum and took time to honor Marty.

"I would just tell his family to stay strong for him," said Lil Boosie.

Lil Boosie says the story of Marty being killed while protecting his sister touched his heart.

"That was powerful what he did," said Boosie. "That's your sister. I would have done the same thing he did."

Boosie's managers announced plans to donate to the Keys for Marty fund.

"I got him," said Boosie. "Rest in peace little Marty. Grave wounds don't really heal, but all you can do is try to make it better."

Boosie also plans to go on a Stop the Violence national tour this summer.
