Deputies fish suspect, stolen vehicle from Little Blue River

Posted: Updated:

Jackson County deputies have pulled a suspect and the stolen vehicle that he was in from the Little Blue River.

The arrest was made about 4:30 p.m. Monday near the Lake City Ammunitions Plant.

The arrest was the result of Jackson County deputies receiving a tip that a felon they were seeking would be at a specific spot on Monday. According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, patrol units saw the wanted felon in a stolen vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The driver didn't stop and police pursued him for 30 minutes through rural roads and even fields in eastern Jackson County. Deputies said the driver even attempted to ram them in an attempt to get the chase halted.

Eventually, the driver deliberately drove into the Little Blue River. Deputies then apprehended him.

Jackson County Sheriff Department officials said that the driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is expected to be treated and then released Monday night. Once released from an area hospital, he will be booked into the Jackson County Jail.

The driver is being sought on numerous warrants. The warrants involve property worth $62,000 including a robbery in which $20,000 worth of goods was stolen.
