KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said Friday that the team is in its final preparations for next week's draft.

"I think there are good football players to be found in every round," Dorsey said. "There are a lot of good football players in this draft. It is just not up in the top part of the draft."

He held a 12:30 p.m. news conference at Arrowhead Stadium.

Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey will discuss the Chiefs draft strategy during a 12:30 p.m. news conference at Arrowhead Stadium.

After a 2-14 season in 2012, the team picked first last year and chose offensive tackle Eric Fisher. After making the playoffs last year with an 11-5 record, the team this year doesn't pick until 23rd in the first round.

He said he sees the Chiefs focusing on four players and has to be patient.

"It's so hard to predict when you are sitting in the back there in the 20s and 30s to see who is going to fall to you because so many scenarios can occur in this process. What you do is what you have to think out every little step as you go along the way to protect your interest and the interests of the Kansas City Chiefs when it does come time to pick those players," he said.

If the Chiefs find player they feel strongly about then Dorsey said he is prepared to trade up to get that young man. He also will trade down to get additional picks if he thinks that is the best option.

The draft starts Thursday night and wraps up on Saturday.
