Two teenage boys face multiple charges after a Hamilton drag racing accident left a 14-year-old girl dead.
Police say the teens, ages 15 and 16, were drag racing on Tuesday when the 15-year-old lost control and hit a tree.
Following an extensive investigation, police say that two vehicles
were drag racing southbound on Mosler Avenue. As one vehicle attempted to pass
the other, authorities say the two vehicles touched. Police say that a 1994
Toyota Camry, driven by the 15-year-old boy, lost control and struck a tree just
south of the Cornell intersection.
The passenger of the Toyota, 14-year-old Nicole Denney of West
Chester, was pronounced dead at the scene. Denney was a student at Hopewell Junior School.
vehicle, a 2003 Mazda minivan, stopped at the scene and the driver fled. On
scene traffic investigators learned that both vehicles were stolen prior to the accident.
Authorities said both boys will be charged with aggravated
vehicular homicide, receiving stolen property, reckless operation, drag racing
and driving without a license.
The driver of the minivan will also be charged with leaving the
scene of the accident.
