CEDAR GROVE, IN (FOX19) -
Indiana State Police said Tuesday that skeletal remains found this month on Big Cedar Road near Cedar Grove, Ind. are believed to belong to Katelyn Markham, a Fairfield woman who has been missing since 2011.
Bones that were identified as Markham's were found at the same site in April 2013.
Police said the new finding of bones were recovered during searches on April 10 and April 19. Police said an official determination hasn't been made on the identity of the bones.
Markham, 22, was last seen by her fiancee John Carter the night of Aug. 13, 2011 at her home on Dorshire Drive in Fairfield. When Carter didn't hear from Markham the next day, he reported her missing. Authorities suspected foul play but no arrests were ever made in the case.
Anyone with information about Markham's death is urged to call Indiana State Police at Indiana 812-689-5000, Fairfield Police at 513-867-6094, or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-352-3040 or 513-352-3040.
