FAIRWAY, KS (KCTV) -

Lisa Teachman is joining KCTV5 as a meteorologist and traffic reporter.

"I am so excited and thrilled to be working with the most accurate weather team in Kansas City," Teachman said.

An on-air meteorologist for more than 11 years, Teachman brings a wealth of knowledge and vast experience that will strengthen the newscasts on KCTV5 and KSMO-TV.

"Lisa is an accomplished meteorologist and brings a tremendous amount of experience with her," said Darrin McDonald, vice president and general manager. "It was obvious to us that people enjoy watching her on television and it was a slam-dunk decision to bring her to the KCTV5/KSMOtv family. We are incredibly excited to add her to our team."

You can see her on It's Your Morning at 4:30 a.m. starting April 24.

KCTV5 news director Larry Perrett said KCTV5 will be the only station with two full-time meteorologists on air in the morning.

"The ability to blend her knowledge into traffic reporting continues our commitment to invest in the safety of our viewers at every level," Perret said.

IYM meteorologist Gary Amble said the addition of Teachman will be of great benefit to KCTV5 viewers.

"I'm very excited to start working with Lisa," Amble said. "Lisa has been in Kansas City for a long time and she knows our weather. On active weather days, I'm going to welcome a second set of eyes to track our weather. Lisa is a great addition to have."

Teachman comes to KCTV5 from KMBC in Kansas City where she served as meteorologist and reporter for seven years. Previously, she served as meteorologist and reporter in Baltimore and Huntington, WV.
