An ailing Miley Cyrus is no longer in a Kansas City hospital, but posted on her Twitter page Friday morning that she is "sick of waking up to needles."
She was hospitalized Tuesday evening in Kansas City. She has postponed her entire Bangerz concert tour to give her time to recuperate. Her tour will resume Aug. 1.
Existing tickets will be honored.
Her Kansas City concert at the Sprint Center has been rescheduled for Aug. 12. Additionally, two tour dates have been added in Pittsburgh and Chicago
Sources told KCTV5 that Cyrus was treated at Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City for a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics that were prescribed for a sinus infection.
"This type of extreme reaction can last from five to 27 days in these type of cases," her publicist said.
A hospital spokesman declined Friday to confirm that Cyrus had been a St. Luke's patient while tweeting pictures from her hospital bed, but the spokeswoman said she was not at the hospital on Friday.
On her Twitter account, a frustrated Cyrus has vented about having been in a hospital bed and disappointing fans.
"Can't quit crying," she wrote. "I wanna go back on tour. Im meant to be onstage performing for y'all not laying in a hospital bed."
Her publicist has offered no date for when the tour would resume.
"She will remain hospitalized and is under a doctor's care until we see some improvement and is asking for your compassion and privacy at this time. Miley is devastated about missing shows and possibly disappointing her fans," the statement issued Thursday morning said.
Earlier in the week on her Twitter account, Cyrus said she wanted her fans to know as soon as possible about the St. Louis cancellation "especially the ones trekking to get there."
She said because the doctors won't release her on Wednesday that "Im not going 2 make it 2 St. Louis. I'm so sorry but somethings are outta my control."
In other tweets, she said she felt miserable and would rather be on stage. She also complained about the TV options at her hospital.
The cancellations are crushing news to her legions of fans. Some burst into tears when they arrived at Sprint Center Tuesday night and learned the news.
"I'm devastated. Like, I shouldn't be laughing. I want to cry. We just kind of looked at each other, and my eyes started watering, and I was like 'no, I don't believe it,' and everyone was like, 'Hey, you know it's canceled,'" said Sophie Lewis, who on Tuesday night had come to Sprint Center with her friends.
For some, this would have been their first concert ever.
"Cyrus has been hospitalized for a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics, and has been placed on medical rest by her doctors. She will not be able to perform as scheduled," according to a news release issued on her behalf Tuesday evening.
On her Twitter account, Cyrus said Tuesday that "amazing doctors" are taking "good care of me" and she shared a picture of her with a stuffed animal in her hospital bed.
She also used emoticons to express her disappointment to concertgoers.
"Kansas, I promise I'm as (heartbroken) as you are. I wanted so badly 2 b there 2night. (crying face). Not being with y'all makes me feel (expletive) than I already do," she wrote on her Twitter account.
In recent days, Cyrus has tweeted about having a fever, cough and sore throat.
Fans feel sick themselves.
"This was going to be the first time I would have seen Miley in concert. And we had 19th row seats, which is pretty close. So I'm pretty mad," was the reaction of ticket holder Erin Kiely.
"Mixed emotions. Just want to cry, but at the same time, loving Smiley and wanting her to get better," was the take of fan Hannah Davis.
According to TMZ.com, Cyrus fell ill at the Sprint Center in downtown Kansas City where Truman Road was filled with buses for her Bangerz tour.
TMZ said she had been shopping with her mother earlier in the day while in town.
Earlier this month, Cyrus' beloved dog Floyd died apparently from a coyote attack and she canceled a concert in Charlotte just 30 minutes before it started.
At the time, Live Nation said the 21-year-old pop singer had been diagnosed with the flu and was ordered to rest.
Cyrus became a star of the Disney show Hannah Montana. Her concert at the Sprint Center several years ago sold out in a matter of minutes, and became the subject of City Council meetings regarding scalping of tickets. But her decidedly adult antics of late, including twerking at the MTV Music Awards, and her tumultuous personal life, have made headlines and tarnished her squeaky clean image.
Refunds for the concerts can be obtained at the sites where the tickets were purchased.
