JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A school bus crash in central Missouri sent four students to the hospital Monday afternoon.

Authorities said the bus, carrying the students from Mapaville State School, hit a slick spot on Highway Z near Pevely. The bus swerved and rolled on its side. The accident occurred as the students were heading home at the end of their school day.

The four students were transported to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Their injuries were believed to be minor. The bus driver and an attendant were checked at the scene. They suffered no serious injuries.

"We are thankful that no one was seriously injured," said Stephen Barr, assistant commissioner for the Office of Special Education.

The students ranged in age from 12 to 18.
