LAWRENCE, KS (KCTV) -

Donald Henry, 35, of Lawrence said he was mulling over his outstanding student loans recently and wondering if he was ever going to get them paid off. Winning a $25,000 prize playing the Kansas Lottery's $5 Wild Cash instant scratch game was just the help he needed.

"Money can't buy happiness, but in this case it's a big relief," he said. "It sure takes the pressure off."

Henry stopped at a gas station Thursday in preparation for a drive to Emporia, KS, to pick up his son Jacob to celebrate Jacob's 8th birthday this week. While there, he purchased a Wild Cash ticket and took it home to scratch.

"I was sitting there by myself scratching the ticket and watching TV when I uncovered the $25,000 prize," Henry said. "It didn't seem real at first, but then it did."

Henry had a similar experience recently when he won another large prize playing a Kansas Lottery instant scratch ticket. Just last month, he won $1,000 on a $1 ticket. Remarkably, Henry purchased both winning tickets at the same retailer – Hy-Vee Gas 1, located at 3900 West 24th Place in Lawrence.

Henry is employed as a materials handler at Huhtamaki in De Soto. In addition to using the prize to pay down his student loan debt, Henry said he will use the money to take his son on a vacation this summer.
