Teenager killed in east Kansas City shooting

Posted: Updated:

Authorities are searching for a gunman after an 18-year-old was found dead.

Kansas City police say someone called 911 about midnight Monday after they heard the shooting.

When officers arrived at the house near Agnes Avenue and East 49th Street, they found the teen shot in the front yard. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital, where he died.

Witnesses say they heard a lot of shooting but did not see a shooter.

This all comes just after Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forte moved more than 40 people from across his department to the Violent Crimes Division, hoping to reduce violent crime like this.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
