Grass fire burns half acre in Gardner

GARDNER, KS (KCTV) -

Firefighters in southern Johnson County had their hands full with a brush fire Monday afternoon.

It started about 3:15 p.m. in the area of 191st Street and South Gardner Road.

The fire burned about a half-acre of grass, but smoke was causing some problems for motorists exiting off of Interstate 35 onto Gardner Road.

Firefighters were also trying to prevent the fire from spreading to some nearby barns.

No injuries were reported.
