DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A lecture and exhibit will be hosted by the Alabama Center for the Arts for Memphis artist Sara Good. The exhibit, entitled Seed to Soil to Sediment, opens April 14 at the center in Decatur. The exhibit will run through June 26

Seed to Soil to Sediment presents a series of soil-related works created over a broad period, and inspired by the artist's range of sources, ideas, and experiences.

"My connection to the earth has always felt very deep and direct," said Good. "It is my center. It has shaped my sensibility as a sculptor."

Athens State University's Livingston Concert Lecture Series is sponsoring the lecture. The exhibit and lecture will both be free and open to the public.

The Alabama Center for the Arts opened in 2012 as a collaborative project between Athens State University and Calhoun Community College. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
