HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

Students and staff at Hilton Head Island High School are mourning two of their students.

Cory Rocha, 18, and Cesar Herrera, 17, were killed Friday morning when the 2011 Ford Focus they were driving in struck a culvert and tree. Rocha and Herrera died at the scene.

The driver and another passenger remain in critical condition at Memorial University Medical Center.

Hilton Head Island High School will be holding a prayer vigil inside the school gym for all four students. The tragedy hits close to home for everyone here.

"When I found out, I couldn't move, I was in shock, I didn't believe it," said ninth-grader Jonatan Diaz. He said school wasn't the same today.

Jonatan said he was good friends with Cory and always had a good time with him.  "It was just so quiet today; a lot of people were sad," Jonatan said.

"He had an amazing personality. We had a lot of memories with him," said eight-grader Balfred Blanco. "He was just real fun, fun to be with."

He had known Cesar for five years and just talked to him two days before he died.

More than 30 counselors, social workers and clergymen from around the county came to console students after news broke out about the fatal wreck.

WTOC was told the school library was filled with grieving students and that teachers and staff are still trying to cope with this tragedy.

"It's one of those life lessons that you never really want to teach high school students during their high school years, young budding people that were an integral part of our Seahawk family so it's devastating," said Hilton Head Island High School Principal Amanda O'Nan.

Again, a prayer vigil will be held at about at 6 p.m. at the school gym.
