A 16-year-old boy has been charged in Jackson County Juvenile Court in connection with last week's violence at the Kansas City Zoo.
County officials have not said whether the juvenile is charged in connection with the shots that were fired outside the zoo, or the fights inside and outside the zoo.
A spokeswoman for the courts said a 16 year old who was charged in juvenile court on March 19. The youth was charged with possession of a handgun, a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and a probation violation.
The youth remains in custody and will face arraignment on April 10 in a closed hearing.
Violence broke out on March 18 during free admission day for Jackson and Clay county residents. No one was seriously injured, and zoo officials are looking at making changes to the way free-admission days are offered.
