KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

It was a heartbreaking loss for University of Kansas fans as the Jayhawks did not advance to the Sweet 16.

It was even sadder for one little KU fan in tears in St. Louis.

Jayhawk fans watching the game in Kansas City were hungry for a win as they settled in for brunch at The Well in Waldo.

"They always start off slow, which is to be expected, but I think we're about to turn it on," KU faithful David Tafreshi said during the first half.

The heartbreak and tears came when KU was not able to turn it up enough to win.

"I'm ... I'm ... I'm inconsolable actually," KU alum John Pope said. "It's shocking to lose, being a KU fan, I'm crying now, just teasing."

"It's miserable, you spend the whole season cheering for these guys, and Nova, she saw the little kid crying, and you know, it just breaks everybody's heart," Travis Houk said.

Heartbroken fans feel his pain.

"Bummed," Nova May said.

"It's been a good year though, wasn't it? We had a lot of fun this year, we still love our Jayhawks, Rock Chalk," May's dad, Travis Houk, said reassuringly.
