OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -

Firefighters made quick work of an apartment fire Friday night.

Crews were called just after 11:30 p.m. to the Point Royal Apartments in the 12300 block of Craig Street.

First units on the scene reported flames visible inside a ground level apartment.

Firefighters quickly forced entry and extinguished a fire in a back living room area. They searched the apartment and determined no one was home.

The fire was contained to one unit. That unit suffered moderate fire damage and significant smoke damage. It is believed the unit did not have a working smoke alarm.

The exact cause is still under investigation.
