Basketball fans keep close eye on TV screens

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Fans who couldn't make the drive to St. Louis are watching March Madness games from bars, in offices and on the big screens at the Power and Light District in downtown Kansas City.

Kansas, Wichita State and Kansas State all played Friday in St. Louis.

KU fans in particular celebrated Duke's early exit from the tournament.

Both KU and K-State fans said that they hope Wichita State does well in the tournament.

Wildcat fan Wayne Burke said the Shockers have had a great season.

"It's really nice a team that's part of the state of Kansas doing well," he said. "If the Wildcats can't win, then Wichita State would be the team I'd want to cheer for."

With both the Wildcats and Shockers playing Friday night, bars expect to be packed. Some workplaces were thinned out by folks taking vacation or personal days on Friday.
