KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A downtown building had to be evacuated Monday morning after a construction-related gas line break.

Firefighters evacuated the Commerce Bank building at 811 Main St. about 9:45 a.m.

Main Street is closed between Eighth and 10th streets, and Ninth Street is closed between Walnut and Baltimore streets.

The management company smelled gas and evacuated the building. The line has since been capped.
