KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Big 12 basketball tournament started Wednesday at the Sprint Center, and fans are flocking to downtown Kansas City.

The shops and restaurants were packed with customers. Fans were bragging about the chances of their favorite team to win it all during Saturday's championship game.

Fans turned the Sprint Center's common areas into a giant pep rally. Fanfest gave game goers plenty of things to do before the action.

Players and coaches said they love to play before the fired-up crowds at the Sprint Center.

Business owners appreciate the festive atmosphere and the money flowing into their registers.

"It's unbelievable the amount of people who come in from in state, out of state," said Mike Ferger of McFadden's. "To show off the district and to be able to throw a party, it's everything."

Oklahoma State beat Texas Tech, thrilling their fans. OSU plays the Kansas Jayhawks at 2 p.m. Thursday.
