KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

Speeds reached 80 mph in a chase that went from the Kansas side to the Missouri side in rush-hour traffic.

Police said the pursuit began about 4:42 p.m. when officers tried to pull a driver over at 13th Street and Quindaro Boulevard in Kansas City, KS. The driver refused to stop and instead took off.

The pursuit went north into North Kansas City on the Heart of America Bridge. It then headed south after the driver made a U-turn.

Three people were taken into custody when the vehicle hit some stop sticks police had put out. After about three of its tires burst, the driver stopped at 13th Street and Minnesota Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. He took off running and made it a couple of blocks away before he fell down in a parking lot and officers caught up to him.

Chopper 5 video shows the suspect appear to put his hands behind his back as he lay on the ground before three officers descended upon him and wrestled him into handcuffs.

Two other people was taken into custody at 13th and Minnesota.
