OLATHE, KS (KCTV) -

A team of dancers from Olathe Northwest High School have big bragging rights after taking the title at a national competition for the third straight year.

The girls had quite the welcome home ceremony waiting for them just outside the Southwest terminal at Kansas City International Airport on Monday.

They competed in the Dance National Alliance held in Orlando, FL, over the weekend.

"They performed, jazz, palm, hip hop and kick, which you have to be pretty athletic to pull off four different styles of dance in 2.5 minutes and not lose energy. So it is pretty impressive," coach Shannon Summers said.

The competition brings together nearly 200 of the most talented high school dance teams in the country.

It was the fifth year the Olathe Northwest Ravens went and the third year they won.

"It is hard to be in the spot from winning last year, because you have a standard and there is so much pressure, and they succeeded. I am so proud of them and couldn't be more honored to be on a team as great as this," team captain Lexi Kaminsky said.

The title took work. The girls practice year round and got up early to hit the gym.

Shawnee Mission East's dance team also competed. They placed seventh in the jazz category and eighth in hip hop.
