KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police on both sides of the state line pursued a motorist across area interstates during rush hour traffic.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office initiated the chase that began about 6 p.m. Tuesday and ended about 6:40 p.m. in Kansas City, MO. The sheriff's office recognized the suspect driving the vehicle and considered him armed and dangerous.

After the chase left Douglas County, deputies turned command over to the Kansas Turnpike Authority.

The chase went over Interstates 70 and 670 as well as Blue Ridge Cutoff. The chase ended at Blue Parkway and Elmwood Avenue in Kansas City, MO. Authorities deployed stop sticks on I-670 just before he passed into Missouri.

The driver had been going about 100 mph. The stop sticks blew out the front two tires, but he still kept going, authorities said.

Once the vehicle became disabled and stopped, authorities took the driver into custody. It did not appear that there was a second person in the vehicle.
