Turner Elementary temporarily on lockdown after threatening phone call

KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

Turner Elementary School was temporarily placed on lockdown Wednesday after the school received a threatening phone call.

The school is a part of the Turner School District.

It is located on 55th Street, just north of Pierson County Park.

Dr. Jason Dandoy, the assistant superintendent of public relations for the school district, said the school received a call from someone who said there may be a bomb in the building.

The school was placed on lockdown while officials conducted a building a perimeter search.

Police were called and they and school officials determined the threat had little credibility. The lockdown was then lifted.

Dandoy said school officials are working with local law enforcement to investigate the origin of the threat.
