To pass or veto, Gov. Brewer still undecided on SB 1062

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Gov. Jan Brewer has yet to say whether she will sign SB 1062, the controversial religious freedom bill.

She sent out a tweet on Tuesday saying, "I assure you, as always, I will do the right thing for the State of Arizona."

Many local groups have spoken out against the bill and the number of protestors is growing, as both residents and businesses in Southern Arizona wait for the governor's decision.

Later today, one group, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, will speak out in opposition to SB 1062.  The group of faith leaders will meet at Wingspan on 7th Street. They anticipate five to seven faith leaders participating in a press conference, which will begin at 10:30 a.m.

There have been several other protests against SB 1062 across Arizona, one of which occurred at the Capitol in Phoenix on Tuesday.

Supporters of the controversial bill say it strengthens protections in Arizona law, to defend against religious discrimination.
