KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

Update: Oscar L. Smith returned to his home and is safe and sound. He is back with his family, authorities said.

The Kansas City, KS, Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a missing elderly man.

Oscar L. Smith was last seen wearing a heavyweight tan jacket, blue jeans, glasses and a black baseball cap. Smith was driving a four-door 1999 Beige Oldsmobile Intrigue with Kansas tag 341-FFS.

Police said at about 2 p.m. Smith was supposed to go to a fast food business in the area of 78th and State Avenue. The personnel at the restaurant know him well and indicated he never showed up at that location.

Smith takes medication for dementia and insulin-dependent diabetes, and police say he needs to take his medication Tuesday evening.

Police need the public's help finding Smith. He is a 78-year-old white male who is about 5'10" tall and weighs 175 pounds. He is balding with brown eyes.
