10 injured when daycare van overturns in Pasco County

Posted: Updated:
WESLEY CHAPEL, FL (WFLA) - A crash involving a daycare van injured 10 people, including 8 children who were transported to area hospitals.

It happened in Pasco County on State Road 56 at the intersection with Mansfield Boulevard.  Florida Highway Patrol troopers say the driver of the Kids-R-Kids daycare van tried to make a left turn onto Mansfield Boulevard and drove into the path of another vehicle.

That vehicle hit the van, which fell over onto its side.

Twenty-four children between the ages of 5 and 10-years old were on board the van at the time of the crash.  Troopers say two adults and eight children were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The female driver of the second vehicle has serious injuries, according to the FHP report.  She is being treated at St. Joseph's Hospital.

FHP troopers say the driver of the daycare van was ticketed for violating right-of-way.
