KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at a Northland apartment complex.

The fire started shortly after 1:30 p.m. Monday at The Vintage at Zona Rosa in the 8800 block of Northwest Congress Avenue, located just north of Highway 152.

The fire began in the attic and spread to multiple units.

At least one resident was displaced. Some of the apartment complex remains under construction.

As a precaution, extra units were called to the scene.

"Sometimes when the [fire] gets into the attic, it can get away from you because of all the common space you have up there," Deputy Chief James Garrett said. "So the crews did a great job getting up there and getting a stop on it before it took over the whole building."

Fire officials are still working to determine a cause and a damage estimate.
