LAWRENCE, KS (KCTV) -

A man has been charged in connection to an overnight shooting in Lawrence.

Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson charged 34-year-old JD Turner with first-degree attempted murder.

Police said they were called to a north parking lot of Dad Perry Park, located near Harvard Road and Monterey Way, about 2:15 a.m. Friday on a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found a victim, later identified as Anthony Wisdom, who had been shot multiple times. Wisdom was air-lifted to a Topeka trauma center.

The victim was able to tell police the identity of the alleged shooter and a description of the vehicle he left the area in. The two were involved in a verbal argument before the shooting.

Shortly before 3 a.m., officers located the suspect vehicle and stopped it near 23rd and Harper. Turner was taken into custody without incident and transported to the police department where he was interviewed.

Police said after the interview Turner was arrested and taken to the Douglas County Jail.

Police said the suspect and victim knew each other.

Turner's next court appearance will be Wednesday afternoon. His bond is set at $250,000.
