Butler schools on lockdown as precaution

Posted: Updated:
BUTLER, MO (KCTV) -

Schools in the Butler R-V School District are on lockdown as a precaution Thursday.

Heath Oates, the assistant superintendent, said both Butler school facilities are in their lowest stage of alert, a Phase 1.

Oates said exit doors are locked with an adult nearby and they have an open campus, so doors are locked and there is restricted student movement.

While he didn't go into detail about what caused the "general community concern," he did say there had been no specific school threat.

Butler police Chief Randy Beshore said there was an incident that happened the other day that was brought to the police department's attention. The school initiated the lockdown and the police checked into the incident, finding no specific threats.
