NEW YORK, February 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

Extricom, emerging as a wireless LAN industry leader for high performance, comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage at high density venues, will be presenting its solutions at MWC 2014.

Extricom, the provider of enterprise wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions, is emerging as the leader for high density wireless Wi-Fi offering a flawless technology that enables customers in large-scale venues to use their mobile devices without any interruption. The deployment of Extricom's Channel Blanket™ technology and system architecture at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis is but the latest in a long list of successful installations in large venues that offer users  high bandwidth, wire-like reliability, and seamless mobility Wi-Fi.

Extricom has been pushing seamless WLAN to a new, unprecedented level. Clients now include the US Open with more than 700,000 estimated visitors, the 21,000-seat MEN Arena in Manchester, UK, and the 19,000-seat Houston Rocket's Toyota Center. Also using Extricom are Las Vegas' Venetian/Palazzo Casinos/Malls, the Sacramento Kings Arena in California, and Chicago's Lollapalooza, which has more than 100,000 estimated visitors.

Ultra-crowded venues, such as Bankers Life Fieldhouse, are the most challenging environments for WLAN use. Yet, Extricom has met demands to host at least one client per square meter in venues holding tens of thousands of users - many of whom operate more than a single handheld device simultaneously. The Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Mexico's Centro BANAMEX and BEXCO in Busan, Korea have also chosen Extricom's wireless solutions for satisfying visitors' and fans' expectations for excellent mobile performance.

IT managers found Extricom's solution for high density large venues uniquely combining Channel Blanket advantages with dedicated patented high-density algorithms. Extricom successfully surmounted the structural challenges that shut down other WLAN solutions at high density environments including severe co-channel interference and massive attempts to connect of tens of thousands of wireless clients. Extricom also overcame the challenge of the harsh physical environment at large venues, including no RF separation across the entire bowl at sports centers and large exhibition holes.

Today, end-users of mobile devices in these venues enjoy high-quality reception, uninterrupted coverage, and a wealth of in-venue applications, including fan and visitor engagement, sports streaming and replays, merchandise and social networking.

Rising to meet the numerous challenges to Wi-Fi mobility in large scale venues, Extricom's Channel Blanket solution places wireless intelligence in a central switch that coordinates the actions of all access points. Access points are configured to use the same channel, eliminating the complexities of cell-planning and simplifying wireless deployment. Channel Blanket also solves both extensive and unpredictable Wi-Fi traffic that can restrict the volume of users. Its technology allows each Wi-Fi channel to be used in any location and on every access point, effectively creating 'blankets' of coverage. Unlike all cell-planning solutions - which attempt to quell the torrent of users in high-density public venues - Extricom thrives on the surge of traffic velocity. "With fans, artists, crew members and journalists all bringing their smartphones and tablets to concerts, sport events and large-scale professional venues - and often using them at the same time -  we were convinced that our unique blanket technology would solve many of the problems that IT managers and event producers have faced over the past few years. The successful deployments of our technology at all these venues have shown that we were right" says Extricom's CEO Gideon Rottem.

Come meet us at MWC 2014 in Barcelona on Feb 24th to 27th at Hall 5, Booth 5D81.
