Police detonate improvised fireworks found during Northland car stop

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police and a bomb and arson unit were called in after receiving a tip that a woman had remote control explosive devices in her car.

Kansas City police said they had been looking for a female fugitive for awhile and got a tip she was seen in a Northland neighborhood.

When officer pulled her over in a white pick-up truck shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday near Northwest 80th and North Broadway Avenue, they found what appeared to be a remote-controlled explosive device inside.

Police called the bomb and arson unit to detonate the device, which was later determined to be improvised fireworks.

The female fugitive has been taken into custody.
