KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A Kansas City businessman who supports a program to help those in need of a ride now needs some help himself.

"I'm really thinking of relocating my business somewhere else," said Abraham Karmi.

A frustrated Karmi with A's Automotive got a costly call from an employee Thursday morning.

Sometime overnight burglars broke into his business near Interstate 435 and Hickman Mills Drive and stole at least four cars, trashed the video surveillance system, took titles and records as well as computers. So far the business has added up more than $50,000 in losses.

"They don't know how to work, they know how to steal. They have a hard job I guess, they spent at least two hours here cleaning out what they took," he said.

Karmi said a couple years ago this wouldn't have been a problem. The old South Patrol police station was across the street until relocating about a mile away. After this haul Karmi says perhaps it's time for him to move as well.

"Somewhere safe. Before the police station was here and now they're gone, and it's been real scary ever since," he said.

Karmi may look familiar because he's been on TV before, but not as a victim. For more than a decade he's been a main supporter of Cars for Christmas. He donates time, service and several cars a year to the program that gives cars to needy families.

He says none of the cars stolen overnight were Cars for Christmas vehicles, but they were cars he needs to keep his small business going.

While this situation makes him angry, he says nothing will ever stop him from giving, no matter how much others take.

"I just like to help people and some of the stories, you just can't walk away from when you hear it, when you listen to it, it just puts your tears out," Karmi said.

Police hope someone saw something that helps lead them to the burglars. If you have any information call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
