Mission gas station bomb scare proves unfounded

Posted: Updated:
MISSION, KS (KCTV) -

An apparently unfounded bomb threat at a Mission gas station prompted a brief evacuation Thursday.

Someone called Mission police about 1:10 p.m. Thursday indicating the threat at a QuikTip located at 4700 Lamar Ave., which is just one block south of Interstate 35.

The business was evacuated and Mission Officers coordinated with Olathe Fire Department, which has special bomb detecting equipment, and their canine unit to search for explosives.

After an hour investigating the threat, nothing could be found, and an all clear was announced.
