Firefighters work in bitter cold to extinguish Overland Park house fire

Posted: Updated:
OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -

Firefighters had to brave snowy streets for an early morning house fire.

Crews from Overland Park and Leawood responded just before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday to the fire in the 2900 block of West 155th Terrace.

The homeowner told firefighters that everyone was out of the house, and he had a car on fire in the garage.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the car fire and checked the rest of the house to be sure fire had not spread.

The fire was contained to the garage with only moderate smoke damage in the rest of the house.  However, the fire did heavily damage two vehicles in the garage.

No injuries are reported and the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
