OAK GROVE, MO (KCTV) -

Surrounded by her family, Bailey Bennett died at her home Friday night.

Bailey was just 8 years old and had battled cancer.

Over the holidays, the Elves of Christmas Present heard about Bailey and they did some very special things to give her some extra cheer. Santa Claus visited Bailey and brought her an Elf on the Shelf named Peppermint, which is like Flat Stanley.

People across the area and the country responded to share pictures of Peppermint and her adventures. Bailey's family was deeply grateful for everything done to make her final days a little brighter.

Oak Grove's mayor and town came together to bring the community's Christmas tree to Bailey's front yard.

Visitation was Monday night. Her funeral will be at an Oak Grove church at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
