Nashville parents charged in death of son

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police have charged a mother and father with murder several months after their child's death.

In June of last year, officers responded to the home of Jamey and Christopher Chaffin and found the couple's son, Bryson, dead.

Tests later found the child had a toxic level of morphine in his body.

Jamey Chaffin had been prescribed morphine for back pain.

Officers also found deplorable conditions inside the home, including bags of garbage, dirty diapers and animal feces.

The couple's three surviving children were removed from the home.

The Chaffins are charged with first-degree murder and several counts of child neglect. They will be arraigned on those charges next Wednesday.
