~ Instant triple trade-in value credit toward purchase of new device and accessories

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cricket Wireless announced today it is kicking off tax season by launching "The Nation's Best Trade-In" program, which offers customers more for their current phone than any other carrier by tripling the trade-in value of their current phone[1] towards the purchase of a new device and/or accessories. This new program, along with Cricket's "5 Smartphone Lines for $100" promotion (also announced today), will be available to current and new Cricket customers beginning this Sunday, January 26, 2014 at company-owned stores and premier dealers.

The Nation's Best Trade-In program helps make the latest and most sophisticated devices affordable for everyone by tripling  the value of their old phone. While other carriers may assign no trade-in value to some phones, Cricket will offer customers a minimum of a $30 credit for Cricket smartphones and $15 credit for all other phones.

"Cricket was founded on the principle of providing the best value in wireless for our customers. We created The Nation's Best Trade-In program to provide yet another way to help customers get the phones they really want – and save money at the same time," said Julie Dexter Berg, chief marketing officer at Cricket. "Our initial trials showed that customers are thrilled to find out how much their old phones are worth, and thrilled with their ability to get a great new device they never thought possible. For example, a customer traded in their phone from another carrier and, using our triple trade-in credit and Phone Payment Plan, purchased a new Samsung Galaxy S4 at more than 60 percent off the retail price and walked out with a down payment of less than a $10."

"Trade-in programs are standard with wireless carriers, and it's often a vehicle to recoup subsidy costs when a customer upgrades or switches carriers," said Bob Sullivan, executive vice president at Clover Wireless, Cricket's partner in offering this program. "We work with many carriers on their trade-in programs, and Cricket uniquely recognizes the value of the handset, as well as offering a better experience to its customers as they move up the device value chain."

Cricket offers the hottest devices like the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, Samsung Galaxy S4 and ZTE Source, all with nationwide unlimited (talk, text, music and data) no-contract rate plans starting as low as $20 per month as part of its "5 lines for $100" multi-line plan promotion.
