WASILLA, AK (KTUU/CNN) – An Alaska couple welcomed their son into the world with help from an unexpected source.
The husband called 911 when his wife suddenly went into labor at home.
"It was unexpected," Anthony Holt said.
Many parents will tell you they never feel quite ready to welcome a new baby. Jolie and Anthony Hold learned that at about 4 a.m. Sunday morning. It's a ready-or-not kind of thing.
"The look on her face was just like, it's happening, it's coming right now and when I looked at her, I was like, ahhhh," 911 dispatcher Amber Church said.
In their Wasilla, AK home, Jolie Holt went into labor and husband Anthony called 911 and reached Palmer, AK dispatcher Amber Church on the other line.
"Ma'am, my wife is in labor," Anthony Holt said to the operator.
Until then, it was a slow night on the graveyard shift for Church.
"He sounded, you know, urgent, but he was an amazing caller, he was really cooperative and he listened to exactly what I said," Church said.
After two minutes on the phone with Church, Anthony Holt was delivering his son, little Lawrence Donnovan. It's the couple's third son.
"He's happy, he's healthy and so are our children, they're all happy," Jolie Holt said.
The Holts will tell you they're happy there was someone on the other line who was ready and able to help.
"You could hear the pride in his voice, he was very excited, it was really endearing," Church said.
