National Zoo posts panda cub selfie

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WWBT) -

The National Zoo posted a selfie of their baby panda, Bao Bao, on Instagram and is giving you a chance to meet the cub.

The zoo is calling the video of Bao Bao a selfie, though the cub likely didn't hold the camera herself. It's just 15 seconds long, but gives a nice close look at the 5-month-old.

Those wanting to see more can register for a chance to see the panda cub in person. The zoo is calling the opportunity for a small group of fans to get special access to Bao Bao, zookeepers and biologists a "zoomeet" or an "Instameet."

Fans must fill out a form and post an Instagram video saying why you should be chosen. The videos must tag @smithsonianzoo and use the hashtag #zoomeet or can be sent to the zoo as an Instagram direct message.

Zoo officials will pick the winner on the January 27 for the meeting on February 1.

The zoo's Instagram account has picked up more than 4,500 followers in just one day.
