Charges have been filed after a man and woman said they were bound and forced to strip off their clothes in a Belton residence during an apparent dispute over $900, according to court documents.
Joseph Anthony Ford-Gray and Jessica Nicole Cayton were charged on Thursday with two counts of kidnapping by the Cass County Prosecutor's Office. Police are seeking two additional suspects and anticipate charges being filed.
Police made the arrests after they found a woman who said she had managed to escape after being bound with zip ties. Officers said the woman, who had gotten free from some of the zip ties, was cold and upset and had been knocking on a second house in an effort to get assistance.
The woman said she and a man had gone to a home at 15703 Richmond Ave. in Belton to retrieve some property. She said a man inside the home accused her of stealing $900 from the owner of the residence, which she denied.
She was forced to strip and Cayton allegedly shaved off part of the woman's hair, according to court documents.
The man who had brought the woman to the residence was tied up and forced to strip down to his underwear. The two were bound.
The woman said she was able to get free of some of the zip ties and make her escape when some of the suspects left the home to look for the money. She said she made up a location where the money would be in an effort to give her time to make her escape.
After finding the woman, officers responded to the home and found the man who had been bound and cut during the ordeal, according to court documents.
Both Cayton and Ford-Gray requested an attorney and declined to answer questions.
