Saying goodbye, hundreds filled a church Thursday to remember a beloved Chesterfield High School teacher, who died unexpectedly late last week. Vincent Ferraiolo was a teacher at Thomas Dale High School for 17 years. He also ran an exotic pet shop in Chesterfield County.
They were there for so many reasons, hundreds of people touched by Vinny Ferraiolo's life. So incredibly touched, that they say he changed their lives.
"He tried so hard to be a good daddy," eulogized his daughter, Faith. "He always worried he wasn't doing a great job, but the truth is he was doing a great job. I will always love him. He is my superhero."
Many say Ferraiolo was a superhero in their lives. Hundreds of students signed a banner from Thomas Dale High School, more signed his casket.
"If it wasn't for him I would probably be God knows where," said Taylor Penrose, one of his students. "He gave me the motivation I need to finish high school."
Aja Moseley bought pet from him.
"He basically touched my life forever," said a tearful Moseley. "I have a lizard that he helped me get. I was having financial problems trying to afford it but he let me pay him off slowly and it's just people like that don't come often."
The songs shared during his service rang so true for those mourning Ferraiolo's death, they say it is as if the songs were written just for him.Ferraiolo
And on this day, in this moment they say they may be laying Vinny Ferraiolo to rest, but his memory and thoughtfulness will live on in each of them.
Ferraiolo's family requests memorial contributions be made to "The Ferraiolo Kids Fund" at any Union First Market Bank.
