CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden will be named the new head coach of the Washington Redskins and will receive a five-year deal, FOX19 Sports Director Joe Danneman has confirmed.

Gruden's new contract hasn't been done but will be completed today, FOX19 has learned.

When asked for comment on Gruden's time in Cincinnati, Bengals offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth said, "Amazing job. Consider how young his skill positions were. That kind of success (is) pretty rare with this young of skill."

ESPN's Adam Schefter, citing sources, reported via Twitter that the Redskins will introduce Gruden as their head coach this afternoon.

The Washington Post's Mark Maske said on Twitter that "Gruden has agreed to be the Redskins' coach and has told the Bengals he is leaving for the Redskins."

Maske spoke to Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis.

Lewis said told Maske that Gruden is ready for the job and will help Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

"(Gruden) sees offensive football through the eyes of the quarterback," Lewis told Maske.

Gruden was the Bengals' offensive coordinator for three seasons. The team made the playoffs each year but failed to win a postseason game. His brother is ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden.

NFL.com reported that Bengals running backs Hue Jackson will be promoted to replace Gruden in Cincinnati. Jackson is also a special assistant to Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. Jackson served as the Bengals' wide receivers coach from 2004-06 and was the Raiders' head coach in 2011.

Meanwhile, Bengals fans will be keeping an eye on defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.

Schefter reports that Zimmer has emerged as the favorite to be the Minnesota Vikings' new head coach.
